How to Install Window Coverings
Installation Instructions
All window coverings sold by Dick's Discount Blinds include complete written installation instructions and illustrations in the package.
All Mini-Blinds Our stock mini-blinds include durable, boxed-end mounting brackets for easy installation.
- To mount end brackets, spot and start screw holes with any pointed tool. Be certain the hinged covers face away from the window glass.
- For inside mount, keep front edges of the brackets flush with the front edges of the window frame. Insert screws through holes in side of brackets and fasten tightly.
- For outside mount, brackets should be spaced 1/2" farther apart than the headrail width of the blind.
- It is recommended that you install center support brackets when provided. Space the brackets evenly along the headrail, making certain they will not interfere with the movement of the barrels inside the headrail.
Vertical Blinds Inside Mount
- Installing brackets: Vanes need to have ½" clearance from the bottom casing. Brackets have one hole. Put screw into hole and mount at least 2" away from the window. The Clip Release Flange must face towards the window.
- Installing the track: Your vertical headrail is reversible to accommodate both left or right pull. Center the track under mounting clips and insert the front of the rail into the brackets and then snap in the back.
- Installing the vanes: Open the carriers, hold the vane near the top and snap the vanes into place. Be certain that all vane curves face the same direction.
Outside Mount
- Installing brackets: Vanes should have ½" clearance from the floor covering. The top of the brackets should be ½" above the height you desire. Install screws in the two holes, making sure the bracket is level.
Draperies & Rods
- Installing hardware: All products come with specific instructions for each particular rod. If any parts are missing, please call for replacements.
- Hanging draperies: Begin hanging draperies at the master slide (lead arm). The first hook to go on the master should be inserted from behind the arm. Put a hook in every slide, pushing extra slides to end of rod. Remove extra slides by pulling end gate down and slipping them out. Push end gate up to close. Pin last pleat to pulley housing: pin return to bracket.
